It’s Funny If You Think About It

No gas anywhere
No place to refill
None in the tank
On a narrow curve
Call roadside assistance
Nothing we can do
Gas is on the way
Wait in a muddy snow bank
Shivering on the shoulder
A few cars stop
Offer help
But mostly pity
Nothing they can do
Gas is on the way
Wait in a muddy snow bank
Laugh at the mud
Laugh at the rain
Laugh at cold toes
Laugh that it’s getting late
Nothing else to do
Gas is on the way
Wait in a muddy snow bank

What does Dad know?

They wanted Pizza Pockets
Begged and pleaded
Clamored for savory strudels
Dreamed of marinara pop tarts
Yearned for Italian empanadas
I tried to warn them
Tried to help them understand
Tried to share a bit of wisdom
But they couldn’t hear it
They couldn’t understand
They insisted
So… I bought Pizza Pockets
Now here we sit
Unimpressed and hungry nonetheless
Now we’re all on the same page
Pizza Pockets aren’t great
These kids have so much to learn

To Be Continued

It’s been a great week
No seriously it has
Had a bloody nose
(Because I picked it)
Got a migraine
(Too much brain picking)
Scalded my arm
(Because coffee)
Got let down in the nicest way
(Also picked that)
This is fun
What’s next?
Do I get to pick?

Spokane Visited

Read a book today
The whole thing
Front to back
Cleaned the kitchen
Picked up the book
And the day disappeared
Or maybe I disappeared
Into Spokane into 1909
Forgot my lunch
Good thing I ate there
And died there
Was born and lived there
Now I’m back
And it’s like I never left
